Map, Compass & Big Key
1F
From the start you can collect some Hearts by removing the pots on the left and right of the main path. Both exits lead to a dead end and so Link must press the switch beneath the center pot. As shown above.
In the next room kill the three "Popos" and stand on the raised tile to open the door to the next room. Here Link has to dodge an array of cannonballs. Make sure not to get hit by the huge 2x2 Cannonball which appears every now and then. Once you are at the end of the corridor. Link can collect 112 Rupees from the chest and pot on the upper ledge by going around the room counter clockwise.
Go to the north once again and you'll be in the main central room with a very huge chest in the center. We cannot yet get there and the Big Key is required before it can be opened. Lift some of the pots to find some valuable items, and stand on the tile in the lower right corner to open the doorway to the right.
Take out the three Stalfos skeletons and follow the upper exit. The lower one leads to a dead end, but there are three hearts hidden on the lower level beneath the chest (Check the map to verify this).
In this room Link comes across an Anti-Faerie. The only way to dispose of this is by taking out your Magic Pouch and sprinkle it with magic. Then it will turn into a real faerie! The trigger button is in hidden beneath the center pot, so lift that one to get out.
Go down the newly opened doorway and collect the Dungeon Map from the chest. Return via the path which was previously called the dead end. Back in the central room stand on the other raised tile to open the gate to the left wing of this dungeon.
Take out the four Stalfoses and continue on to the left. Hmm.. this seems to be an empty room, or is it? Four Stalfoses drop down and you must defeat all of them in order to advance. You can use the pots to take each one out in a single hit if you like. Once they're annihilated head up and collect the Compass from the chest. Now you can see all the interesting things such as chests on the map.
Descend the stairs and go right. Examine the grey triangle tile on the wall to 'speak' with Sahasrahla. He gives you a hint on how to beat the Eyegores (also known as Rockclops) and Stalfos Knights which are your upcoming enemies. Follow the path to the right as the bottom one is blocked off. Now you are forced to walk by the treasure chest, because you don't have the Big key. Continue on and Link finds himself in a darkened room with 2 Anti-Faeries and two Popos.
Kill both of these purple creatures on the right side of the chamber and stand on the raised tile to unlock the door to the right. You can take out the Stalfoses if you like, but you only need the Small Key hidden beneath the upper rightmost pot (this palace should be called: Hiding-treasure-under-pots-palace).
Return to the previous room, use the key on the left door, walk to the left over the ledge in the 'cannonball' room and enter the rightmost chamber. There are many enemies in here which need to be defeated (the rotating Anti-Faeries are invulnerable until they split up). Take out all the enemies including the Eyegore. Throw a pot against him when his eye is open to defeat him instanteneously (if you lost both jars just leave & enter the room to regenerate the jars. Next lift the jar which the Anti-Faeries no longer protect to make a chest appear with the Big Key inside.
Find and utilize the Bow
Use the key right away on the door at the top of the screen, push the right block upwards in the next room and return to the central chamber. Now you can finally collect the big treasure of this dungeon! But be careful, because the party only begins when the chest is unlocked...
You can't beat these guys, but after throwing their invulnerable heads at you they disappear again. Hit the skulls with the swords to avoid them and walk up to the northern passage. Use the Big key to get through it and equip the Bow & Arrows. Take out the 6 Popos and the 2 Eyegores in this darkened room using either Arrows or Jars. The right Eyegore will drop the key for you to collect.
There's a recovery heart in the upper left jar and a Magic Vial in the one opposite to it. Furthermore take note that the right passage leads to a small room with 18 Blue Rupees. If you in the need for money just pick 'em up while avoiding the Anti-Faeries.
Anyway, open the door with the key from the Eyegore and ascend to the second floor.
1F
This room has two Anti-Faeries in it, so avoid them as much as possible. If you're low on Arrows you would do wise to collect the 2 bundles from under pots as you'll be needing them to pass by the next obstacle. Hit the button switch under the lower left jar in order to open the door.
There are three Eyegores in this room and you only have 2 pots at your disposal, so you are forced to take at least one of them out with the bow. Just be patient when shooting arrows, you can only hit an Eyegore when their single cyclops eye is opened completely.
Stand on the lowest of the four raised tiles to open the passage to the left where Link finds himself in another cannonball room. Just press the upper left button to unlock the door to the left. All of the other switches are duds.
We're getting close to the end of this dungeon, because there is a sign on the tiles near the northern exit here. Okay, we got only 2 Stalfoses and 1 Eyegore here. The skeletons are easy to defeat, but this new Red Eyegore is as you probably expected stronger. You can only defeat it with arrows and it takes two hits to kill, but it drops a leisurely bundle of 10 Arrows when it goes down.
This is it, the final room before the boss. Take out all 6 Popos and both red Eyegores to open the path to the final chamber. Make sure to collect all the arrows and recovery hearts from under the jars, you might need them in the upcoming battle.
Boss: Armos Knights
The boss of this dungeon consists of a group of 6 stone Armos Knights. They'll attack you in two formations. Either line or Circle. For the circle formation the safest place is in one of the corners. Then slash them with your sword or hit them with the arrows to cause damage.
The Line formation has all Knights lining up at the top of the screen and then hopping down towards the bottom. To prevent loss of energy you must go through the gap which is left by a defeated Armos Knight. So make sure to take at least one out.
Three hits with either weapon should be sufficient to take one down. Once there is only one Knight remaining the formation is broken and it will turn red. From this moment on its only attack is to stomp you down by chasing you around the room.
Because this last Knights movement is somewhat harder to predict use the sword to take it out as the bow & arrows are hard to set up properly. After a few hits its gone as well and you can claim your Heart Container. Next to that the Pendant of Courage drops down into the center of the room. Collect it to complete you adventures of the East.
Link automagically find his way to the exit and now you can walk back to Sahasrahla to show him your Pendant of Courage.
