Playing the Prelude of Light, Link transported himself to the Temple of Time, and struck the Master Sword into the Pedestal of Time. Blue light surrounded him, and he was brought back seven years into the past. Playing the Requiem of Spirit on his Ocarina, Link was brought to the Desert Colossus. Things weren't that different, but seemed larger from a child's perspective.
Link entered the Spirit Temple, and headed for the corridor that he was small enough to
crawl through. He was alarmed to see a young Gerudo kneeling in front of the opening.
The Gerudo, hearing Link, gasped and spun around to confront the intruder. She was relieved
to discover that it was only a a little kid, and asked him what he was doing.
Link didn't quite know how to respond, so he said he wasn't doing anything, really. He
expected the young Gerudo to call him a liar and press the real answer out of him, but instead
she looked delighted. Since Link had nothing to do, she asked if he could do her a favor.
Link was surprised when she introduced herself as Nabooru of the Gerudo, a lone wolf thief. This was the second-in-command to Ganondorf? She told Link that although she was a thief like Ganondorf, she was completely different. She told Link how Ganondorf had used his followers to rob women and children, and even kill people. Nabooru told Link how the Gerudo race consists only of women, and that one man is born every hundred years. Even though their laws said that lone male Gerudo must become King of the Gerudo, she would never bow to such an evil man.
Nabooru wanted Link to go through the tiny hole and retrieve a treasure for her - the Silver Gauntlets, which would enable the wearer to push and pull heavy things. She told him not to take them for himself, since they wouldn't fit him. Ganondorf and his minions were using the Spirit Temple as a hideout, and Nabooru told Link her plans to sneak deep into the temple, steal all the treasures inside, and mess up their plans.
Link agreed to do this favor, and in return Nabooru promised to do something great for him if he could successfully get the Silver Gauntlets. Link sneaked through the dark, dusty temple, and before long he saw an iron monstrosity sitting on a throne. Curious, Link hit it with his sword, and the metal servant of evil, called an Iron Knuckle, rose from its seat with a roar. The Iron Knuckle slowly pursued Link through its throne room, swinging at Link with its huge axe when he drew near. Every time it finished swinging, Link took the opportunity to strike with his small sword. After many blows some of its armor fell off, and, enraged, the Iron Knuckle chased after Link faster than before. Link stayed calm and used the same strategy, until finally the monster was destroyed.
Link went through the door and walked outside. He saw that he was near the top of the "goddess of the sand." The owl was perched above him, and the wise bird told Link:
A long time in this world is almost nothing to you, is it? How mysterious! Even I thought that the tales of a boy who could travel back and forth through time was merely a legend. Link, you have fully matured as an adult. From now on, the future of all the people in Hyrule is on your shoulders. Maybe it's not my time anymore. Here is my last advice. Two witches inhabit this temple. In order to destroy them, turn their own magic against them.
The owl promised to continue watching Link, and flew off. In a nearby treasure chest, Link
picked up the Silver Gauntlets. They were heavy, and indeed much too big for him. He was
wondering how he should get back down, when suddenly he heard a scream. Looking down toward
the entrance to the Spirit Temple, he saw Nabooru being pulled into a pool of black magic
as two ugly witches flew around her. Nabooru yelled at these minions of Ganondorf, and
seeing Link, shouted at him to get out of there. Before she disappeared, she screamed that
the witches were using black magic on her. Then she was gone, and the witches flew back into
the Spirit Temple, paying no attention to Link. Link stared in utter horror, wondering what
in the world the witches had done with her.
