Link's Life
Link's life after defeating GanonPosted by Koroks Rock on Nov 4, 2006:
Link was horrified. He had worked at the Merchant's Stockyard for nearly two years, and knew it like the back of his hand. For nearly two years he had loaded goods onto wagons and cared for pack animals of a dozen species, though most commonly he cared for the horses. He was always better at horsework than the other workers.
Two years, wasted.
Link was about as poor as they came without living on the streets, despite the wealth he could have had if others knew his true identity. But he denied himself these things and tried to live a normal life, which he turned out to be terrible at. He seemed to be suited for adventuring and little else.
Link trudged back to his house, a loosely built shack that leaned on the stone wall of the city limits for support. Originally it had just one room, but Link had managed to find bits of timber over time until he had been able to rig up a wall and a half. One of the walls separated out a room for himself, and the other half of a wall divided the main room from a cooking area. Link had also been gathering flat rocks and loose tiles so that at least the floor of the kitchen wasn't dirt and dust, like the other two rooms. A single lantern lit the house, hanging from the low ceiling so that the light would reflect off Link's Mirror Shield into his room.
The house had no windows, and only one door, which was sealed with a lock Link had ripped from a door in the Shadow Temple. He had the only key to the door, and everyone on his street knew the young man was a valiant fighter. He had been attacked by those seeking his few remaining possessions before, but he had left those unfortunates lying bloody in the alleys of Hyrule City.
So he was more than a little alarmed when he noticed a set of foot prints in his floor that were not his own. They were small and had shoes (which he did not), and trailed about the room as if the owner was insatiably curious. The prints looked to belong to a small person of no more than one hundred and twenty pounds, and eventually wandered into Link's room.
Silent as the night, Link reached above the door and withdrew the Kokiri Sword from behind a cleverly hinged board. The blade was very small in Link's hand, for he was now a grown adult, but he had taught himself to wield it like a long dagger. Sliding across the floor so as not to create noise or an abrupt light change, he drew near the entryway to his room.
Soft breathing emanated from about where the pallet that he slept on was.
Link lunged with all the speed he could muster, kicking off the stone back wall to give him a boost of speed. One strong hand pinned the intruder to the floor, while the other hand whipped the Kokiri Sword up the her neck.
Waitaminute... her?
As the rush of adrenaline ground to an abrupt halt, Link realized who he was pinning to the dirt with all his weight. Pamela, a girl he had met in Termina, and then met again in Hyrule. It was more than a little disconcerting to have met essentially the same person twice, though his experiences in Termina had made such things far easier for him to experience than most. The difference was meeting her in Hyrule.
"Oh, uh... hey Pamela."
"Hi Link. Could you move, I think my dress has been compromised." She glared up at him, but didn't seem to horribly mad for someone being threatened by a sword.
"Yeah, sorry about that." Link stood up and turned away as Pamela returned he dress to a modest position. It was a pretty dress, blood red in color with a curious pattern of pink that made Link thing of stains. There were also slivers of steel that matched the curves of her torso, kind of like fitted armor, but more appealing to look at. Probably a design intended to make muggers think twice.
"Would you care for something to drink? I have some milk..." Link offered over his shoulder, holding his sword awkwardly. "I'm afraid I can't offer you anything to eat."
"I'm good, thank you. Besides, I like here in your room. So many interesting objects."
Link flinched a bit as he turned around. Yes, he kept most of his equipment stored in his room. The Biggoron Sword was sheathed in the corner, where Link could grab it in three practiced motions. His bombs lay in their bag next to the stone wall, where there was an indent in the floor. Other weapons where laid across the floor or pined to one of the walls, where Link could reach them in his sleep. Only a few of his items where in the main room, where passerbys had a slim chance of seeing them.
"Um, so, how did you get in? And, if I may be so bold, why?" Link tried to surreptitiously stand in front of his Gibdo Mask, not wanting any connections to be accidentally made. Connections that might reveal to Pamela to his curious history- she was a smart girl, after all.
"Oh, my father devised a lockpicking device for the Shadow Temple locks, so he could study it better." Pamela flipped a curious device out of her belt, one which had nearly a dozen spindly metal legs sticking forwards like a mangled knife. "It only takes a minute to fit it to any of the Shadow Temple locks, which means your lock is essentially useless."
With a casual twirl Pamela returned the lockpick to her belt, keeping her eyes on Link. "As for the why... that is more complicated. Perhaps you could tell me, Hero."
Link did his best to keep from looking surprised. "What did you call me?" He cursed silently as his voice strained. So much for being unconnected.
"You heard me. You're the Hero, the guy who did all this stuff seven years ago and then vanished, the one that had all these prophecies about him that somehow never came true. More than that, you're the Hero of the other realm, Termina, which is how you know so much about my father's work."
Link sat down heavily on a pile of dirty clothes he needed to wash. All of a sudden getting fired didn't seem like a big deal. "Maybe I just act like him..."
"Yeah, your reaction is just like an innocent bystander Hopper. Wait, no, that's not your real name, is it? Should I call you by you by your real name, Link?"
Link glared up at her, hating the way she spat out his alias, Hopper. He had invented it from a nickname a friend in Termina had given him. "How did you learn that name?"
"It's simple, Hero. When we first met in the cemetery, you seemed to already know me and my father, addressing us by name. All of a sudden you seem to realize something, and then get horribly confused, and then you acted very... forced. Like you were acting to be surprised at the nature of my Father's interest. Then you gave him the most detailed information on ReDeads and Gibdos I've ever heard, along with the best advice he's ever gotten- keep music around to avoid possession." Pamela's face softened as she delved on in her story. "He invented a handheld music box for that purpose and it's saved his life a dozen times. I got curious, and over the years I've found descriptions and prophecies that fit you to the tee."
Pamela leaned forward and poked Link in the belly, hard. "The only part I don't get is why the Hero of Time, the savior of bloody Hyrule and Termina, would hide in poverty like this, hide who he is. Why the name, the poorness, why hide your awesome stuff? You should be out living the good life!"
Link looked up at Pamela and rubbed his belly, feeling resentful. "You think it's that simple? You think I can just cash in?"
"I would." Stated Pamela, folding her arms.
"It's not that simple. Do you have any idea what my saving Hyrule involved? I had to rewrite time. Now I've got to live in the very timeline I helped author. What if my actions somehow undo that? What if I do something that causes a paradox? Worse, what if I somehow meet myself at some point his year?"
"Oh. I hadn't thought of that." A frown formed on Pamela's forehead as the possibilities formed in her agile mind.
"No. But living in a time loop makes you think about these things, and I spent years living the same three days. I have learned to be scared of linear time. It frightens me what I could do if I'm careless in this timeline." Link drew a deep breath. "I've been avoiding anything that can change the course of history, and trying to hid from my old friends, though I've had mixed success with both of those."
"The Hero of Time is scared of time? Now that's a thought..." Pamela sat down next to Link. "You want to talk about it?"
"Yeah, I suppose I do." Link seemed surprised at his readiness to share, but he had been bottling it up for a long time. Seven years, in fact. He leaned his lead back against the wall as Pamela laid her head in his lap, staring up at his shaven chin. "I knew I had to get myself a quiet job from the moment I set foot in Hyrule city, and began a really interesting series of events, spanning the last seven years..."

"It all started when i got back from termina i had nothing i mean no one remembered me execpt for zelda and the sages but she was in the palace and the sages where in the sacred realm but i did find malon but one flash of my blade and her father freaked out ive never seen her since".
pamela sighed she noticed the lean chest of the hero the strong arms the biceps but alast she knew she could not have him after all HE wouldnt let her.
"so after months of sleepless nights on the streets i took i liking to gambling betting my last ruppee on a horse witch had the lowest odds off winning the hyrule grandstand but i vandalised the other horses so that i would win after receiving my fortune i saw a slave trader he was whipping a woman about 18 me only being 11 at the time decided to help her out i bought her from the slave trader shortly afterwards i was mugged by her i found out a few years later that she was a prostitute so with no money and nowhere to go i found this place it was abandoned so i decided to move in".
pamela felt a familiar feeling in the palm off her left hand she had to leave shortly and she had to bring the hero with her but she had already decided to let him finish his tale of woe.
"... s o i got fired and here i am now talking to you er hey pamela whats wrong?"
"LINK WE MUST LEAVE NOW!!!" pamela cried "but why?" was links repliey.
"beacause he wishes to speak with you" flashing the image of a familiar mask with link knew so so well.

Link shook his head
"I do not wish to speak with anyone right now" he said simply, and looked up, hopping that if he ignored her, she would go away, guess what? It didn't work. Pamela sat up, and looked at him, dissapointed.
"Link" she said plainly, but stoped, and changed what she was about to say "then I must be off" and with that, she stood up and left him alone, in the empty room, and a wall and a half. He stood up, and wandered around, the Ocarina of Time sat in a corner nearby. He held it to his lips and played The song of healing slowly, it seemed to relax him in times like this. When he finished, he put the blue ocarina into his pocket, and sighed, before exiting his "house", locking the door on the way out, then started walking back into town, head hung low, he couldn't just make it known to everyone what had happened, then a voice came from behind him, a voice he could never forget.
"Hm, I remember you" they said "I thought I'd never see you after I said "I've been waiting" to you" Link turned around, Dark Link stood there, in Hylain form
"you..." Link growled, but Dark Link put his hands up
"I am not here to fight" he said "but to help, my younger cousin is the only reason I didn't kill you, I believe you have seen her preform in Terimainia, I'm not sure what she goes by there, Aqua, maybe?" he asked, and Link took a step back, he had seen the girl seven years ago after he stopped the moon from falling in Termainia, she preformed with the Zora band "Dal Blue" for the anual celebration they held, he had gotten to chat with her, but she seemed to vanish at night, why? He did not know
"How do you know Aqua?" he asked
"I told you! She's my cousin!" Dark Link barked "she has vowed not to let a Hero of Time die, after what happened 1000 years ago, Anna was best friends with a Hero of Time after I snuck her out of Ganondorf's bonds," he started "she even tryed to defeat me" he said quietly, then talked normaly again. "When the Hero of Time was caught off guard by Ganondorf and killed, she made a vow that if it was in her power, she would never let a Hero of Time die, but what about Shiek, have you ever wondered what she did while you were asleep for seven years?" he asked finaly
"no" Link replyed
"she helped Anna, I mean Aqua, excape Ganondorf again" he said, but Link wasn't sure what to think, and walked into the square, away from Dark Link, to think about it

As he thought Link said "I wonder if I should go to Saria and talk to her about what just happend or go look for Shiek/Zelda." After 2 hours he decided to do both. First he would go to the castle and see if he could find Shiek/Zelda there and then go to talk to Saria. when he got to the castle he found evrey single one of the gaurds dead!!!!!!!! He screamed "Dark me whenni get my hands on you your dead you son of a jerk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Then he rushed to the throne room, and saw Dark Link standing there with his sowrd out about to kill Shiek/Zelda. When suddenly the Triforce of Courage (wich he found when he came back from Terimina.) began to glow on the back of his hand and blasted Dark Link with the same power Zelda used to help seal Ganondorf in the tainted Sacred Realm. Then all of a sudden Dark Link vanished and link realized that he had sealed up Dark Link with his master Ganondorf!!!!!!! After that Zelda decided to tell link a littel secret what she said shoced link into fainting, what she said was that she Shiek because Link had said that he thought Shiek had died so that is why he fainted from shock. when he woke up he was in his house and zelda was cleaning a wound he got when he fell. He had cut his arm on a fallen gaurds spear when he fainted. When he was better he played Saria's Song on the Ocarina of Time and he told Saria (telapathicly of course) of all that had happend.

link was worried about pamela.
link was worried about pamela.
Link opened his door to his house. He had a stressful day today: work had been very hard and his boss piled stuff on him to do, he got to work late today, and he discovered the harshness of being a poor person. He stepped into his house, sighing deeply.
Hopefully tomorrow will be better, he thought. He layed down on his bed and fell asleep quickly.
The next day he woke up very late.
"I'm late!" he shouted to himself, "Very late." He shot up from bed, got dressed, and went off.
He opened the door to his job and stepped in. The first thing he saw was his boss scowling at him.
"You're fired," he said firmly, "You've been late for the past two weeks now."
