QuadMask1.jpg
QuadMask1.jpgQ2 Majora's Mask664 viewsThis is yet another 3D model I made for my Zelda game, using Q2Modeller. I'm using Q2 because it's the only 3D format my game engine will run, which is handy because Q2 is open source. Unforetuneatly it means i have to skin it seperately.

Anyhoo, the idea is to place the Mask frugally in high combat areas. Once the mask is grabbed it will give 4x the offensive strength to the bearer for a limited amount of time.

quiver.jpg
quiver.jpgMD2 Quiver554 views(sorry about the heigth of this pic)

This is a modded screenshot of the new ammunition model for the bow. It's pretty low-poly because ammo tends to be prevalent across levels, which means that it will be appearing a lot. hence, to keep it from swamping low end machines, I've been force to make it extremely simple. Some stats:

Number of Vertices: 35
Number of Skin Vertices: 35
Number of Faces: 56
Number of Frames: 1
Average Size of Triangles: 180

Build Time: 30 minutes, plus a few skin revisons

race.swf
race.swfMinish Race655 viewsA simple flash game, crafted for Zelda's 20th birthday (as far as japan is concerned).

It's definately not finished, but it's the beginning of what I hope will be a community effort. It needs a few levels to beef it out, a little introductory explaination, me to figure out how to get the water spills working again, etc, but it's playable as of right now. Just grab a buddy and enjoy riding around on an octo as a Minish.

redead_dungeon.jpg
redead_dungeon.jpgRedead's Dungeon780 viewsThis wing of the Tut is quite dark, and houses a fe Redeas and other such creatures. Hence the left side of the pic is altogether too dark to be much good, but that's the way things are. I'm looking up here, so we're getting the rising view of the ReDead, and the chains I have hung from the ceiling as eye candy. if you look to the right you can see an alcove in the wall which is revealed only at the end of the level.4 commentsKoroks Rock
Saria2.jpg
Saria2.jpgSaria's Wrath922 viewsIn the old gallery many of us had fan fictions that we illustrated for. This particular scene is pulled from my own fic, in one of the pivotal moments.

Saria (yes, I took a lot of liberty with the shape of the kokiri) has just avoided rape by one of the Corrupt Gaurds, and is retaliating. That's the Great Deku tree talking up top.

screenie.png
screenie.pngMilo/John Screenie411 viewsIt occured to me as I was working on this-
"Wait, what are the colors for these two? Does he even want me to smooth them out the way I am? What am I doing?"
And so on and so forth. So, to put the question up for grabs, I took a quick screenshot and put it up here.

Comments on how I work, what I'm doing, and what I have running in the background are, for once, entirely appropriate.

self pencil.jpg
self pencil.jpgA Different Gerudo King449 viewsI've always wanted to know what the other gerudo kings looked like. This is a postulation of mine, using just an ordinary pencil and plain white paper. Not even photoshop.

The reference for the pic was, bleh, me. I have a very Egyptian look to me (gee, wonder why...), and so what better way of designing something than using your own body parts? yes, i do have a beard patch, but no, the rest of my hair is not like that. i have very bushy wild hair that i did not feel like drawing. i tried to get the shadows under the eyes right but it kind of failed.

oh, and the background... kind of cropped up halfway through the sketching process, i got tired of following reality. but then i wnet back to shading, which erased a lot of the Egytian details. There were several shading things i didn't like, but my hand was getting shiny and cramped, so i stopped.

slingshot.gif
slingshot.gifQ2 Slingshot Wireframe570 viewsYet another screenshot from q2modeller, This one shows off my newest weapon, the slingshot. It's been a singulary difficult design, because of the reloading frames not working right, and also my pathetic hand-making skills.

All told though, I'm rather proud of it- it's been quite a job and i've gotten decent results. 59 frames of loaded and firing slingshot.

snowy.jpg
snowy.jpgA bit of Terragen459 viewsEh. I'm getting that hunger for really epic landscapes again, now that I've read l-o-s' post on the landscape designer for TP. Being something of a mapper myself, i know the desire to make massive, amazing landscapes altogether to well. It's the kind of endeavor not many get to fullfil, except in programs like Terragen.

This picture also enjoys the role of being the top banner for my website, Cube Legends. Cube Legends, for the newcomers to this gallery, is a game Mod that i started over a year ago, orignally about Zelda, but now it's branched off into a different direction.

split_wallpaper.jpg
split_wallpaper.jpgSplit Natures (wallpaper)837 viewsThis is a relatively straightforward edit to existing artwork that you can find on Nintendo Power magazines (or so i'm told. i dunno, i got it from zeldalegends). the tricky bit was trying to change the pic's proportions without distorting the subjects. i tried at some length to displace the bottom and top to the sides, but once i did so i realized that it didn't work out as a background.

so i scrapped it and went for the rule-of-thirds appoach you see here, twisting the existing side material backwards so as to give the user some space to put their desktop icons. i also tried to apply the sexy new logo, but i really didn't work colorwise. so i just stuck the name over to the right, mirroring the now-classic Unreal Tournament backgrounds.

So the root subject is not mine, i don't take credit for it, but getting it to work as a background was my effort.

split_wallpaper2.jpg
split_wallpaper2.jpgSplit Nature (redone)673 viewsthis is a redo of the previous wallpaper i did. as i explained on that one (though few seemed to listen), i deliberately have everything to one side. DELIBERATELY. For this one I've had to extrapolate the bg and also the wolf's neck quite a bit, which leads to the repeated patterns you see. sorry about that, but it's kinda unavoidable. i did remove the Hylian Crest and the text, to unclutter it, but i think that by changing the spliting line i recluttered it. oh well.

note that while this is not a perfect use of Rule of Thirds, \it's close enough for this purpose. think of it as Rule of Three Fifths.

stalfos_bridge.jpg
stalfos_bridge.jpgStalfos' Bridge688 viewsThis is also from my Tut, this particular area demonstrating jumppads with a little "encouragement" from two Stalfos. the only excuse I could come up with for having a jumppad was to have a chasm you must cross, but the brige was broken (see the middle of the pic, over the blask chasm).

i'm afraid that the Stalfos is barely in the pic, but they weren't my goal, so it's OK. I was hoping to get a bit more of them though.

triforce1.jpg
triforce1.jpgTrifoce Q2559 viewsIn my Zelda game, I use the Triforce as a switch sprite: ie, you find the triforce and the level ends --> find trifoce and door opens. It's one of the simplest models i've ever done, certainly the simplest I've done in q2modeller, the program i now use to model for my game.6 commentsKoroks Rock
weebl minish.jpg
weebl minish.jpgMinish Link meets Weebl1428 viewsSeeing the distinct lack of Minish Cap art, I once decided to slap this together. I decided to use my favorite flash characters, Weebl and Bob, as particpant, for no reason whatsoever but a blatant plug for the duo.20 commentsKoroks Rock

Flash 6

I started to upload the old jpeg version of this little loop when it occured to me that i could make the same picture, at higher resolution, and moving, if i did the job in flash. Hence, I took the old motionless picture and rerendered it in flash, which cut it's size down to 17 KB, contrary to it's previous 160+ KB. That's the power of flash.

The loop is pretty self-explainitory, for those who know about Weebl and Bob. For those unfortuneate souls who do not, go to http://www.weebl.jolt.co.uk/pie.htm i think, that may be an incorrect URL.

yelling3.gif
yelling3.gifYelling Back616 viewsi'm trying to get reinvolved in the Legends Alliance forums, so a new avatar was in order. this pic is the product of a very simple edit: instead of link just smiling into Ezlo's wrath, he's yelling back. It's so small as to be negligable, except that it completely changes the meaning of the pic.

edit= i decided it was worth animating after all. animated entirely in Imageready, which was a learning expirience. it would have been easier to do it in flash, but i need to familiarize myself with imageready. this actually took three tries to get it right, with just using imageready, and 5 uploads. bleh.

z1map~0.swf
z1map~0.swf833 viewsAh, at last i can upload again. It's good to be able to do that once more. Especially considering this is a second upload of this file :)

This static flash is simply a render of the overworld of Zelda 1, textured by me. I did get substantial help putting the map itsef together from simplified screenies, but the texturing in flash was all me. I'm considering doing the same kind of thing i did for OoT, but i'm not sure if it's worth the effort.

ZeldasTale.jpgDark Sages: Zelda's Tale555 viewsA simple edit of some OoT art, combined with Triforce text and a cloud render. Color adjustments to make it seem brooding but historical.

Made to appear at the beginning of Dark Sages: Zelda's Tale (a fanfic of mine).
