Horse/Goron race
I'm alive!!! this song has actually been in the making since early January. I've just been really busy and I haven't had much time to do it. And in case you were wondering, yes, I got the idea of making music from dte. but the difference is that he plays his on a keyboard and i sit at my computer like a nerd and click the music into the computer to play. easier, but more tedious.
so anyway, there's a story which goes along with the song to explain the insanity. You're at the top of a mountain with some Ingo-type guy for some reason (I'll leave that up to you). Then you somehow make the Gorons angry at you (remember, they're enemies in TP) and the whole city/tribe/pack or them starts rolling at you. Ingo (or whoever) blames it on you and tries to attack you while you both run to your horses. then you start running down the mountain, with an avalanche of gorons and boulders behind you. you have to avoid them as they pass you, dodge the boulders and bomb flowers ahead of you, and fight Ingo all at the same time.

TURN YOUR SPEAKERS UP! it sounds much better. lots of bass is an absolute necessity. If you have cheap speakers, use headphones. btw, I'm working on a Terragen movie of this (rendering as I type this), so check back tomorrow or something. EDIT: more like a few days, probably. in case anyone cares (doubtful). EDIT#2: Oh yeah, obviously, Koji Kondo was the genius behind the tune. I was the dude responsible for all the random bangs and crashes and thumps (i like percussion), and Anvil Studio was the awesome program (free) that let me do this. EDIT #3: this is a MIDI file, meaning it's incredibly small, but it's up to your comp to supply the sounds of the instruments. if the instruments sound really fake, email me at steve_s_sheridan at yahoo dot com and i can email you the mp3, once i figure out how to make one. anyone know of a good program to convert MIDI to, well, anything else?

hehe, as i listen to this, i can hear how it developed. i just went straight from the beginning to the end, i didn't hop around, so i can hear how i started with a lot of timpani, then started experimenting with bongos and congas, then there was that day when i really liked the sound of the timbales (that semi-annoying metallic clanking drum) and did a few measures with them. then i did some snare-bass stuff, until i discovered toms, which dominated for the rest of the song. i didn't really do much reviewing and fixing up, because i know the song too well to be able to judge it that well. so, be honest, if it sounds like i just put a bunch of percussion randomly on top of the existing song, just say that (i actually did a little more than that, but not much more). well, it isn't random percussion. i sort of knew what i was doing, most of the time. there are actually some complex harmonies in the rumbling timpani that you would never notice. i'll stop rambling now. in case you didn't know, ZELDA ROCKS!!!

Pretty awesome! It has a really sort of frenetic feerl to it, which I guess would work well in that sort of situation, lol. And I also really like how you can still hear the OoT horse race tune in there, but VERY remixed. I'm still trying to figure out what you did with it... sounds like it's in a minor key instead of major now- or, uh, something like that. Ah, forget it, it sounds awesome anyways!

actually, all i did was take the tune, switch it to minor, and switch the instrument to flute and trombone. i only made one or two changes to it other than that. oh yeah i forgot, i also syncopated it (that's actually the big change). i really didn't concentrate on the melody (it was good already, thanks to Koji Kondo's brilliance), i spent almost all my time on the percussion. and i forgot to credit Koji Kondo, so here. i'm glad you like it, i haven't gotten many comments. only one before you, actually. anyway thanks. EDIT: is this not working for anyone else? all i'm getting is the first note, held for the entire length of the song.
