the picture seems as if it should be bigger,look at the right corner,another enemy is there,you see the sword sticking at the bottom corner.

It's actually the sword the Stalfos is holding in another piece of concept art. As for the poster itself, it looks very old school, in terms of Zelda; the background reminds me of the Vallejo-like landscapes in the first Zelda's manual.

I think it's just rocks shrouded in fog. Oh well... The background has been purposefully left sketchy in the artwork. Could be ice or rock...
